Sajanagarh: Kuladiha sanctuary in Nilagiri sub-division of Balasore, well-known for its rich biodiversity, is all set to reopen for tourists from November 1, the forest department said.
Already 38 tourists from various parts of the state and West Bengal have booked online to visit the sanctuary. Meanwhile, the sanctuary authorities have put in place all necessary arrangements to receive the tourists.
The 272.77 sq km sanctuary is rich with flora and fauna of diverse types. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife like elephants, deer, hare, mouse deer, barking deer, boars, bears, various reptiles, sambar and hares.
Tourists and wildlife experts from other states and countries too visit the sanctuary every year for research and recreation. The tourist site is open from November 1 to June 16. But Guharbhola, a place inside the sanctuary is opened throughout the year.
The sanctuary authorities have opened Risia Prakutika Nivas for tourists seeking night accommodation. 18 tourists can stay here.
A nature’s camp has been set up with facilities of drinking water, toilet and boating in Risia dam while trenches have been dug up around the camp.
The sanctuary authorities have formed special squads for protection of tourists inside the sanctuary. The entry time has been fixed at 9.30 am till 1 pm while tourists can stay up to 5 pm.
