Asutosh Basant of the winning team scored a brace in the 20th and 30th minutes respectively. Bikash Nayak found the back of the net in the 40th minute.
Asutosh Sahu and Vighnes Kumar scored a goal each in the 22nd and 42nd minutes respectively for DAV. But that was not proved to be enough. Ashutosh Basant of the winning team bagged the man of the match award.
Ansuman shares lead
Ansuman Samal of Orissa made mincemeat of Ranjan Aryan of Delhi in the second round of the National U-13 Open Chess Championship in New Delhi, Monday. Ansuman is sharing the joint top spot along with 38 others with two points each.
However Mahitosh Dey and Sambit Panda of the state played out drab draws in their respective matches. Mahitosh was forced to share points with Arunabh Gohain of Assam. Sambit signed peace with Shubham Bari of Maharashtra.
Both Mahitosh and Sambit are sharing the joint second spot along with 17 others with 1.5 points apiece.
Sepak Takraw Meet
Cuttack District and Cuttack City emerged champions in the girls’ and the boys’ categories of the State Level Sepak Takraw Championship at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Sunday.
Bhadrak finished runners-up in the girls’ segment, while Ganjam secured the second position in the boys’ segment. Meanwhile 14 players each from both the categories have been selected by the Orissa State Sepak Takraw Association (OSSTA) for the upcoming Federation Cup selection camp.
