Lady teacher’s body found inside car: Manhunt launched to nab absconding husband

Bhubaneswar: A day after the body of a lady teacher was found inside a parked vehicle under mysterious circumstances on Puri-Bhubaneswar National Highway near Samantrapur under Lingaraj police limits here in the Capital city, police launched a manhunt to nab the deceased woman’s husband who is absconding with his five-year-old son.

While no exact reason of the death was ascertained, family members of the deceased, identified as Tanjua Aich (32), alleged that her husband, Sangram Aich, a contractor in profession, killed her and later dumped the body in the car to erase evidence.

The incident came to the light after some locals spotted Tanjua inside the vehicle and alerted police. The woman was spotted with blood coming out from her mouth and nose.

On receipt of information, senior police officials, including deputy commissioner of police Anup Kumar Sahoo, visited the spot and took stock of the situation.

Preliminary probe revealed the couple had a strained relationship for the past few years and were on the verge of divorce.

According to police, Tanuja was a teacher at a private school in Samantarapur. They were staying at an apartment in Anand Vihar near Dhauli.

Based on circumstantial evidences and on the complaint of Tanjua’s family members, police registered a case of murder and has sent the body for post-mortem to Capital Hospital.

“We are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of the death. We are also examining the CCTV footages,” said DCP Sahoo.
