Land transfer on for smart city projects

Bhubaneswar, June 30: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation members demanded more time for linkage of Aadhar cards with ration cards, the last date for which was Thursday.
BMC commissioner Krishan Kumar said, at the BMC council meeting here, that he will ask the government for an extension of the date.
The CEO of the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited, who presented a report on the progress of the project before the council, said the tender process will be completed soon in the four sectors of IT solutions for intelligent city operations and management centre (ICOMC), infrastructure development, Bhubaneswar Urban Knowledge Centre and traffic signals.
The traffic signal work, for which the tender process will be completed by July 20, is likely to be over in nine months, he said. The CEO also hinted that the process of land transfer from the GA department is on for projects such as the Satyanagar Institutional Core and slum redevelopment under the Bhubaneswar Town Centre District.
BMC engineers told the council members that all drains in the city will be desilted and cleaned up by July 10.
The Unit II market, Unit II shopping centre, Unit IV shopping centre, subway market, the Alaka Market at Unit IV and the kiosk at AG Square will now come under BMC, leading to an income of around `1.5 crore per annum for the corporation.
One of the councilors raised the issue of sewage recovered by the Public Health Engineering Organisation that is kept lying on roads for long. An engineer assured the council that the waste will be removed soon.
