Late Naba Das’ daughter Dipali Das becomes victim of cyber fraud

Sambalpur: Dipali Das –the daughter of late Odisha minister Naba Kishore Das – has been duped of Rs 1.5 lakh by cyber frauds, a source said Friday.

According to the source, Dipali filed an FIR at Ainthapali police station in Odisha’s Sambalpur district in this regard. The police have registered the case under Sections 419 and 420 of the IPC, and 66 (C) and 66 (D) of the IT Act.

According to the source, Dipali received two OTPs on her phone March 6. However, she did not share those OTP with anyone. Later on the same day, two debit transactions worth of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 were deducted from her bank account.

Police have launched an investigation into this matter.

The number of cyberfraud cases is on rise in the state. It can be mentioned here that Orkel police in Odisha’s Kandhamal district uncovered a cyber fraud racket and arrested two siblings Feb 17 for their alleged involvement in duping Rs 2,96,000 from three different persons last year.
