Leading publishing house awards promising writers

BHUBANESWAR: Pen In Books, a leading publishing house of the state, has announced the final list of winners for the annual Pen In Books Young Author Award 2018.
For the first time, apart from 10 young Odia writers, one each writing in Hindi and English has also been included in the list, informed Subhransu Panda, author and director of Pen In Books.
The 10 adjudged winners, writing in Odia, are Naresh Kumar Behera for his poetry manuscript Gudae Prashna, Asutosh Acharya for his poetry manuscript Jeebanara Sandhanare, Shree Gobinda for his poetry manuscript Panapatra O Samudra Muhana, Chakradhar Patra for his poetry manuscript Kuhudira Hatadhari.
Other winners are Pratyush Mishra for his poetry manuscript Samudre Shosa, Sipunu Jena for his poetry manuscript Swapna Jeuthi Harijae, Debadatta Mishra for his poetry manuscript Aaji O Aau Kichhi Kabita, Gitanjali Maharana for her short story manuscript Prayaschita, Girish Ranjan for his satirical poetry manuscript Byanga Baruda and Sarthak Pradhan for his collection of essays Drushyapatta.
This year one manuscript each in Hindi and English is also selected for the award. Rinku Taunk for her Hindi poetry manuscript Jigisha and Subhalaxmi Senapati for her English poetry manuscript Tee Off will also receive the award.
Speaking about the award, Panda informed that, this award is being given to 10 Odia writers, below 40 years of age since 2017. Hindi and English writers are also included in the list from 2018. Manuscripts for the current edition of the award were invited last year, and out of 76 entries received, the learned jury selected the above 12 manuscripts.
“This award is instituted to encourage and introduce young and promising writers to the wide readers fraternity”, said Panda. While the award ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 14, 2019, all the manuscripts will be published in form of books later on, Panda added.
