Leopard cub rescued from village

Keonjhar: Residents of Budhipada village under Harichandanpur block in this district rescued a leopard cub while it had strayed into the village in search of food after getting separated from its mother.

The villagers rescued it and later handed over to the forest department officials. The cub is believed to be aged about 4 months old.

According to reports, the cub had strayed into the village from a nearby forest after being detached from a mother leopard. The cub was spotted by the locals when a group of stray dogs were attacking it on the village road.

The locals saved it from the stray dog attack and informed the forest officials.

On getting information, the forest officials reached the spot and found the leopard cub safe. They moved to Harichandanpur with the cub where it will undergo medical tests.

Necessary steps will be taken to unite it with its mother after medical tests, forest officials said.
