Tarbod/Nuapada: A woman was killed and eaten by a leopard at Chhotlora under Bharuamunda panchayat and Sadar block of Nuapada district Thursday evening, locals said.
The deceased woman was identified as Bhanbai Majhi (47).
According to reports, the woman had been to a nearby forest to collect wild fruits but did not return home. Her family members and locals searched for her.
They found a leopard feeding on her body. The villagers had informed forest officials about the incident. However, no forest officials had visited the spot till the last report came in.
Nuapada ranger Banita Bhoi said that complete information about the incident was not available and it will be confirmed only after an investigation.
