‘Lesbian partners’ found dead

Baripada: Mystery shrouded the death of two girls, including a minor, who were allegedly in a sex-same relationship. The two girls were found hanging in a room near Tatanagar in Jharkhand late Friday night.

However, it is yet to be ascertained whether it is a case of murder or suicide.

Both the girls hail from Mayurbhanj district, reports said. The deceased have been identified as Rashmita (16), daughter of one Jayant Nayak of Patharkhama village under Bangriposi police limits and Gudia Patra (25) of Jhinei village under Kuliana police limits.

According to sources, the two girls went missing Tuesday. Rashmita’s father had lodged a complaint at Bangriposi police station. Later, police received report that the two found hanging from the ceiling of a room at Laldungri near Tatanagar in Jharkhand.

Though the exact cause behind their death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the two young girls were in a lesbian relationship and were staying in that room after eloping from their houses.

Primary investigation by the local police revealed that the deceased women were married to each other and were living in that house for nearly a week.

The police, after receiving information about their deaths reached the spot and have sent the bodies for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.

“Both the girls were reportedly married and were hiding here. We cannot say anything as investigation is on. Family members said both had run away from their homes,” SK Mishra, SI, Gamharia Police Station in Jharkhand said.
