Baliapal/Hatadihi: Three persons including a woman died in lightning strikes during nor’wester rains at separate places in Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts Saturday.
In the first incident, Binati, 40, wife of Amulya Kumar Prusty from Sahuchaka village of Kasafala panchayat under Singla police limits in Balasore was struck by lightning strike while she had gone to field to bring back the livestock. Locals rushed her to Basta hospital where the doctor declared her dead.
Muna Singh from Athanagaon under Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj district died in a lightning strike while taking a bath in a river.
Similarly, Padu Pradhan, 65, a resident of Dehuri Sahi of Soso police limits in Keonjhar district died after he was struck by a thunderbolt while he was returning home after tending to his livestock.
