Love affair with Class X girl reason for bank cashier murder: Police

Dharakote: Police Monday claimed to have solved the Andhra Bank cashier Binay Behera murder case at Mundamarai near Dharakote in Ganjam district.

Binay’s alleged love affair with a minor girl was the reason for the murder, police said.

Police have arrested seven accused, identified as Tukuna Gaud, Bahan Gaud, Narayan Gaud, Bulu Gaud, Sameer Gaud, Bhagaban Gaud and Jugunu Biswal.

Another accused, a minor, has been sent to Sudhar home in Berhampur, while two others are still at large, said sub divisional police officer Suryamani Pradhan and Dharakote IIC Subhalaxmi Pujari at a press conference at the Dharakote police station.

Three plastic pipes, one mobile, a gold chain and a purse have also been seized from their possession.

Binay Behera worked at Mundamarai Andhra Bank for three years and used to live in a rented house at Ramnagar second lane in Chhatrapur. He had developed a love affair with a Class X girl from the same locality, police said.

The accused reportedly kept a watch on the movements of the banker and the girl.

The girl January 22 had visited the house of the banker and spent about two hours there. The accused noted the girl’s arrival and informed the headman of the society about the girl’s affair with Binay.

As per the headman’s direction, they called Binay to a mango orchard near the college in the evening. Binay reached the spot and before he could understand anything, the accused started attacking him with plastic pipes.

Fearing that Binay would die anytime, the accused themselves took him to a nearby hospital. The pharmacist advised the accused to take the seriously injured banker to Aska or Dharakote hospital. The accused instead of taking him to a hospital dumped the banker near the college.

Later, Tukuna, with the help of Bhagaban, took an unconscious Binay to a nearby hill and threw him to a 20 feet gorge.
