Binjharpur: In a sad end to an illicit relationship, a minor girl committed suicide by hanging while her uncle was rescued in a critical condition after they tried to end their lives as their family members objected to their relationship at Dasa Gharia Dalit Sahi under this block in Jajpur district Monday.
The girl was found dead while her uncle 27-year-old uncle was admitted to the district headquarters hospital. He fell in love with her niece and developed a relationship with her. However, both the families were against the relationship.
Police arrested the uncle in this connection and sent the body for post-mortem, Binjharpur IIC Suchitrabirya Das said. Tension was palpable in the area after news of the death of the girl spread.
The matter came to the fore after the girl’s father lodged a complaint in the police station. He alleged that his daughter went missing from home at night. The family members searched for her and found her hanging at her uncle’s house at 3 am with the latter writhing in pain near her body. While some claimed that the girl took the extreme step over opposition to their relationship, others claimed that it was case of murder.
