Malkangiri villagers flee fearing Maoist onslaught

Bhubaneswar: Fear of the Red rebels is forcing many families from Malkangiri. Already four families of Kurub village under Kalimela police station limits in this tribal-dominated district have fled their homes.

While two families have taken shelter at Kodel Metla village, the other two have sought refuge in Mandapalli.
“The Red rebels threatened us to leave our village. They also threatened us with dire consequences. As a result we were forced to leave our village and save our lives,” one of the victims said.
“Yesterday four families from Kurub village under Kalimela police limits fled their homes as they were threatened by the Maoists. Currently, they have taken shelter in their relatives’ houses.
