Mamata hits back at Modi, calls him ‘expiry babu’

Addressing a rally later in the day at Falakata in Alipurduar district, she said BJP leaders ‘are seasonal birds who come here only during elections and run away after polls’.

Dinhata (WB): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi describing him as ‘Expiry Babu’, and strongly contested his allegations against her as being a ‘speed-breaker’ in the path of state’s development.

Claiming that her government in West Bengal has done a lot for the welfare of the people of the state, Banerjee told a public rally here in this Cooch Behar district that income of farmers in Bengal has increased three times under the Trinamool Congress rule.

Mocking Modi as ‘Expiry Babu’ and ‘Expiry PM’, Banerjee dared him to participate in a direct debate with her in television or at a public rally. “I am not Modi, I don’t tell lies,” she said, alleging that the PM has made false claims about performance of the TMC government in West Bengal. Mamata claimed that 12,000 farmers have committed suicide during Modi rule in the country.

Mamata also told the gathering that the BJP will try to buy votes by distributing cash. “Don’t vote for them even if they offer you money. It is time to change the BJP government in Delhi. We will show the way by winning 42 out 42 seats in West Bengal. Catch me if you can,” she stated as the crowd broke into a huge applause.

The TMC supremo strong riposte came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack at her at the BJP rally at Siliguri and later at Kolkata.
