Baleshwar: A man was arrested for inflicting injuries on a woman and four of her family members by attacking them with a knife in Odisha’s Baleshwar district Tuesday over unrequited love, police said.
The 30-year-old accused entered the lady teacher’s house and started attacking the family members, including her and her parents, with a sharp knife.
The incident took place at Patpur village under Oupada police station in the district, police said.
After the family members raised an alarm, local people nabbed the youth and handed him over to the police.
While the teacher and her mother were treated at Oupada hospital, her father, brother and uncle were taken to Baleshwar district headquarters hospital, they said.
As the man failed to win her affection, he attacked family members to take revenge, a police officer said, adding that an investigation has started into the matter.
