Angul: A man was arrested and forwarded to court Tuesday for allegedly raping her 19-year-old daughter multiple times here at Kumurisingha village under Sadar police limits in this district, police said. The accused was identified as Narottam Naik, 45, a resident of Kumurisingha area in Angul district. According to Sadar PS IIC Dhiren Behera, the accused first raped his 19- year-old daughter, and then threatened her not to disclose the matter to anybody. Making threats of dire consequences, he raped her multiple times on different days.
However, the man ran out of luck one day in December, last year, as his wife caught him while attempting to rape their daughter, and opposed his immoral act. The girl’s mother then sent her to her paternal aunt’s house in Angul area. From there the girl directly went to her maternal aunt’s house at Bhawanipatna. While residing there the girl mustered courage and lodged a written complaint against her father at Bhawanipatna police station. Acting on the complaint, Bhawanipatna police registered a case (No-61/24) February 1.
As the incident had happened under Sadar PS in Angul district, so, the case was then transferred from Bhawanipatna PS to Sadar PS, Angul. A case (No-91/24) was then registered at Angul Sadar police station February 3. After investigation police arrested Narottam and forwarded him to court Tuesday, said IIC Behera. More investigation is underway in this regard, he added.
