Jharsuguda: A 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by two youths at Mundapada village under Badmal police limits Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Bijay Bhoi of Harekrushnapur village.
According to sources, the incident occurred late Thursday night when Bhoi was going to Mundapada village to finish some pending work. One Ajay Munda and Kumar Munda waylaid Bhoi and thrashed him severely following which he fell unconscious. Later, they dragged Bhoi to a nearby lake and drowned him to death.
Preliminary investigation by police suggests that previous enmity was the reason behind the murder.
Police also informed that Bijay was previously involved in a murder case and had been released from jail a few days back.
While a scientific team has reached the spot to collect evidences from the crime scene, the two youths have been detained by the police for interrogation.
