Attabira: A 32-year old woman died allegedly after being assaulted with a stick by her husband following an argument at Gadtiatikra village under Amalipali gram panchayat in Baragada district, police said Monday. The incident took place around 8pm Sunday when Rajkumar Khadia, 46, allegedly got into an argument with his wife Bhagyabati Khadia, police said.
According to a complaint filed by Rajkumar’s younger brother, Rabi Khadia, the couple’s quarrel was apparently a regular occurrence. As it was raining at the time, Rabi said he did not intervene or attach much significance to the argument. When he went to the couple’s house Monday morning, he allegedly found Bhagyabati lying dead in a pool of blood.
He informed villagers and the sarpanch before alerting Attabira police. A team led by Attabira police station inspector-in-charge Prakash Kumar Karna reached the spot and recovered the body. Police registered a case and arrested Rajkumar before producing him in court. The case has been registered at Atabira police station under Case No. 394/2026. Further investigation is under way, Karna said. The couple is survived by their two minor children.
