Malkangiri: A man allegedly bludgeoned his father to death Wednesday over a petty issue at Udayagiri village of Kartanpali panchayat under Mathili block in Malkangiri district.
While the deceased was Mangala Jiram, the accused has been identified as Budra Jiram.
According to reports, Mangala had planted a mango tree near his house. His son Budra who lives nearby cut the tree without informing Mangala.
Aggrieved over Budra’s act, Mangala went to meet the former who was working at his agricultural land. Following a verbal duel, Budra picked up a wooden plank and bludgeoned his father to death.
Mangala’s wife, who heard her husband’s screams, went with her other sons to rescue him.
Even though Mangala was brought back home, he succumbed to his injuries in a few minutes.
On being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and arrested the accused. He was later forwarded to the court.
