Bhadrak: A married woman has accused her father-in-law of repeatedly sexually assaulting her giving her sedative-laced food in Bandari Sahi village under Ghanteswar police outpost under Bansada police limits in Bhadrak district.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that her father-in-law, identified as Bishnu Mahalik, used to mix a sedative in food before giving it to her.
She alleged that he sexually assaulted her after she became unconscious.
The woman claimed that the alleged assaults occurred more than 20 times over a prolonged period. After learning about the alleged incidents, the woman approached the police seeking action.
Police arranged a medical examination and registered a case (245/26) under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police said Mahalik, along with the woman’s mother-in-law and husband, has allegedly left the house and is currently absconding.
A police investigation is underway, with officers examining all aspects of the complaint.
Police said the case was registered based on the woman’s allegations and that the truth of the claims would be established during the investigation.
