Man carries daughter’s body: Administration provides Rs 10L

Mohana: The incident of a man carrying his minor daughter’s body on his shoulder to hospital for post mortem, took a different turn after the superintendent of police (SP), Gajapati claimed that the man carried the body with an intention of getting compensation money.

While addressing media people at a press conference held at the conference hall of the Collector, SP Amulya Das said that Mukund Dora had already buried his daughter’s body. It was when he was said post-mortem was most to get compensation; he exhumed the body and took it for post-mortem carrying on his shoulder.

At the same time, the SP clarified why the administration could not reach Atankpur village in Laxmipur panchayat and said as the road to the village was washed away by flood water under the influence of Titli the administration could not reach the village.

On the other hand, the administration seemed to be in a damage control mood and handed a Rs 10 lakh cheque over to the deceased’s father in haste, it was alleged.

The villagers are in no mood to buy the administration’s counter allegation. They instead alleged that the administration suddenly swung into action after the news was circulated in media and its counter allegation was only to hush up its faults.
