Kaptipada: A man chopped off a hand of his wife suspecting her of infidelity at Nedam under Kaptipada block in Mayurbhanj district Tuesday.
The accused Gaya Nayak later surrendered before the police along with the severed limb.
According to family members, Gaya suspected his wife of having an illicit affair with his younger brother which often led to fights between the two.
Late Tuesday night, Gaya reportedly saw his wife in the company of his younger brother at a quarry immersed in conversation.
In a fit of rage, he attacked her and chopped off her left hand with a sharp edged weapon. The injured was admitted to Udala government hospital. Police have started an investigation.
