Paralakhemundi: A two-wheeler rider died on the spot after a car carrying Mohana Block Development Officer (BDO) allegedly hit and ran over his head at Podoni square here in Odisha’s Gajapati district Tuesday, a local source said.
The deceased was identified as T Prabhakar (50) who was a resident of Satamail village in Dhenkanal district.
According to the source, the mishap took place when BDO Tapaswini Hansdah was en route to Paralakhemundi for a district-level meeting.
Hansdah left the spot following the accident, the source added.
Later, police reached the spot and sent the victim’s body to district headquarters hospital in Paralakhemundi for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, police detained the BDO’s driver for interrogation.
Police have launched an investigation regarding the incident.
