Malkangiri: A man Friday was sentenced to 10 years of jail term for raping a differently-abled minor girl in Malkangiri district. The Additional District Session Court also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000.
The convict, Biswajit Nama had outraged the modesty of a minor girl of MV-83 November 18, 2015. The victim’s brother had lodged a complaint against the accused with Malkangiri police after the girl narrated her ordeal to family members.
Acting on the basis of the complaint, Malkangiri police had arrested Biswajit and forwarded to the court.
The Additional District Session Judge found Biswajit guilty after studying the evidences against him and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 20,000.
The court has also made it clear that, if the convict fails to pay the penalty, he has to undergo an additional imprisonment of six months.
