The accused was identified as Chaitanya Singh (32) of Diginuasahi village under Udala police limits. Meanwhile, Singh’s aide who was also involved in the incident is on the run.

Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s father, the police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the absconder. Meanwhile, Singh was produced in a court and remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected his bail plea.

According to the case diary, the incident occurred on the New Year’s Day. Singh visited her house during the celebration. He took her out on some pretext.

Unaware of his evil intentions, the girl went on his motorbike. Later, Singh was joined by his aide. The two kept her at different places and outraged her modesty.

After two days, the girl managed to escape from their clutches and reached home. “The main accused has been arrested. A probe is on and we will arrest the other accused soon,” an officer said.
