Man held for robbing doctor’s house

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police Sunday arrested a man for reportedly robbing from a doctor’s house at Old Station Bazar area here.

The accused has been identified as Dipu Chhatri.The cops have recovered Rs 40,000 cash, 45 grams of gold ornaments, a scooter and imitation ornaments from Dipu’s possession.

According to police, Dipu barged into Dr. Paresh Kumar Pattnaik’s house December 2 and looted gold ornaments, Rs 1 lakh cash, two laptops and two mobile phones.

Acting on a complaint by the doctor, Laxmisagar police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab Dipu. The accused had also broken the CCTV cameras and taken away the hard disk.

During the course of investigation, the accused Dipu Chhatri was arrested after he confessed to his crime that he had committed along with his associate. Basing on his confessional statement, the stolen cash and gold ornaments were seized.

A manhunt was launched to nab his associates, police said.
