Narla: A 40-year-old man was bludgeoned to death by his uncle and cousin over a family feud at Alabula village under Narla block in Kalahandi district Sunday night.
Deceased Duryodhana Gouda, 40, worked at a brick kiln near the village.
“My husband had gone to work in the kiln and noticed his bricks intentionally damaged by someone. He then returned home and asked some people to guard the kiln at night,” Duryodhana’s wife Gulapi said.
While he was holding a discussion with the guards, Rajendra Gouda and his son Jayadhar Gouda attacked him, Gulapi said.
“Rajendra hit my husband on the head with an iron rod, killing him on the spot,” she added.
Fearing police action, the assailants immediately fled the scene. Police reached the village and seized the body.
The father-son duo later surrendered to the police with the iron rod used in the crime.
Preliminary investigation indicated the incident was the fallout of a long-standing dispute between Rajendra and Duryodhana’s families.
The body was sent for post-mortem to the district headquarters hospital at Bhawanipatna Monday morning.
“The accused were produced in a court and remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation into the matter is on,” IIC Sri Dalei said. PNN
