Anandapur: A man was killed late Saturday night in Sunduria village under Anandapur police limits when an unidentified assailant attacked him while he was asleep, a source said.
The victim, identified as Jagabandhu Deogam, was sleeping alongside his wife when the attacker entered their home and struck him on the thigh with a sharp weapon before fleeing the scene, the source added.
Afterwards, family members rushed Deogam to the Anandapur Subdivisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead due to excessive blood loss.
His daughter, Pujarani, alleged that a cousin of hers may have been involved in the incident. Police have registered a case and sent the body for a postmortem.
