Buguda: A man slit the throat of his deceased daughter’s mother-in-law over alleged past enmity at Annapurna Nagar here in Ganjam district Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Kanak Sahu (50), wife of Kabiraj Sahu. The accused Padmanabha Sahu, is a native of Pattadhar village under Jagannathprasad police limits.
Padmanabha’s daughter was married to Kabiraj’s son but was strangulated October 30, 2017. The incident soured the relationship between the two families as police arrested the two sons of Kabiraj for the offence.
Buguda police sent the body for post-mortem and registered a case of murder. Kabiraj alleged that Padmanabha had killed his wife over past enmity as he had earlier threatened to eliminate his family.
Kabiraj said he had gone to another village on business work leaving behind his wife alone at home. Padmanabha visited his home and Kanak informed this to her husband over phone.
Kabiraj tried to tell his wife to flee from home but his phone got switched off. He came back home rushing and noticed Padmanabha on the way. He arrived at home and found his wife lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit and smoke billowing out of his house.
