Jharsuguda: A 28-year-old man was allegedly killed by his younger brother, who smashed his head with a stone following a quarrel late Saturday night near Brundamal railway station in Jharsuguda district. The deceased was identified as Bibekanath Nag, 28, a resident of a slum near Brundamal railway station under Badmal police limits.
His body was later found in a nearby field. The accused, his younger brother Khirodnath Nag, 24, is absconding, police said. According to sources, an argument broke out between the two brothers late Saturday night for reasons yet to be ascertained. During the altercation, Khirod allegedly picked up a stone and attacked his elder brother, fatally injuring him on the spot, police said.
On being informed, a team of Jharsuguda police and the Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot. “The GRP has registered a case (15/2026) and started an investigation,” GRP IIC Santosh Mirdha said. Meanwhile, Jharsuguda SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra also reached the spot to investigate the case.

“A team has been formed to investigate the incident. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused,” said the police. The body was sent to the district headquarters hospital in Jharsuguda for postmortem before it was handed over to the family, the police added.
