Man kills wife for opposing liquor consumption

Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, a man assaulted his wife, slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon and brutally killed her after she reportedly objected his liquor consumption at Mukta Sahi under Telkoi police station in Keonjhar district Thursday night.

While the deceased was identified as Gurubari Juanga, the accused has been identified as Tukura Juanga.

According to sources, Tukura returned home after consuming liquor Thursday night. Finding her husband in an inebriated condition, Gurubari opposed him from consuming more liquor. This led to an altercation between the couple.

Fumed over her wife’s opposition, the accused took a wooden plank and bludgeoned Gurubari.

After sustaining grievous injuries on her head, Gurubari lost consciousness and fell down on the floor. Then the accused took a knife and slit her throat following which she died on the spot bleeding profusely.

The accused immediately fled the spot after committing the crime.

Gurubari’s neighbours spotted her body lying in a pool of blood following which they informed the police.

Police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police have started investigation into the incident and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
