G. Udayagiri: The local police arrested a married man Monday for allegedly raping a minor girl (16) after adding sedatives in her food.
The heinous incident has been reported from a village under the G. Udayagiri police limits of Kandhamal district. The accused was identified to be Jitendra Kumar Digal.
Based on a complaint by the victim’s family members, police arrested him and he was forwarded to the POCSO court at Phulbani, inspector in-charge, Jibanananda Jena said.
According to sources, the incident occurred April 13 around 8 pm. The accused on some pretext fed the girl some food after adding sedatives in it while she was sitting in front of her house. After the girl lost her senses, Jitendra gagged her and took her to the village cremation ground located behind her house where he outraged her modesty while she was still unconscious.
