Man swept away in Kendrapada; schools, Anganwadis closed in Nabarangpur

Kendrapada/Nabarangpur: An elderly man went missing after allegedly being swept away by floodwater in Kendrapada Sunday.

The missing man has been identified as Sitakanta Malik of Kalamada Sasan village under Aul police station limits.

According to his family members, Sitakanta was returning with ration supplies when he was swept away by the floodwater of the Kani River.

Meanwhile, Nabarangpur district administration announced the suspension of Anganwadis and schools across the district Monday in view of the heavy to very heavy rainfall prediction of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Nabarangpur district collector Maheswar Swain issued an official order saying that all the anganwadi centres, all government schools, aided and private schools of the district will remain closed Monday with an aim to avoid any untoward situation and keeping the safety of the children in mind.
