Man U defender Rio seeks career in boxing

London: Former England footballer Rio Ferdinand said Tuesday that he is going to try and become a professional boxer. The Daily Telegraph reported Monday that the footballer who is just two months away from his 39th birthday is leaving no stone unturned to achieve his goal. Ferdinand, who won 81 England caps and made over 300 appearances for Manchester United, is an avid boxing fan and has admitted that spending time boxing in the gym has helped clear his head a bit after losing his wife Rebecca Ellison to breast cancer in 2015. However, his fate hinges on whether he manages to convince the British Boxing Board of Control to grant him a licence.
