Man with damaged kidney dies without govt help

Simulia: Waiting for government help, 33-year-old Laxmikant Patri died at Bana Sasan in Bangarkhadia panchayat in Balasore district Sunday.

Patri had long been ailing, but his family was too poor to afford his medical expenses.

After HSC, Laxmikant had migrated to Chennai seeking for work to support his five-member family. After working there for 12 years, he went to Mumbai. After working in a hotel for three years, he fell ill.

In 2018, it was detected that both of his kidneys have been damaged.

His parents wanted to donate their kidneys, but doctors said that as they were aged, they cannot donate their kidneys to their son.

Laxmikant’s parents have borrowed Rs 5 lakh for his treatment. He was surviving on dialysis twice a week.

A few days ago, Laxmikant’s farther Narayan died.
