Maoist posters surface in Rayagada

Rayagada: Maoist posters appealing people to save the Niyamgiri hills have surfaced on the walls of a Shiva shrine at Kalyansinghpur in Rayagada district Wednesday.

The posters were issued by the Bansadhara-Ghumsar-Nagabali division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) outfit.

In the posters, the red rebels accused some middlemen of conspiring to hand over Niyamgiri hills to Vedanta Company and to destroy its natural habitat which is homeland to tribal people belonging to the Dongria Kondh community. They have named five persons involved in the treachery.

“After receiving bribe from Vedanta, they along with some members of Niyamgiri Surakhya Samiti are trying to provoke other members to surrender before the Alumina giant”, the poster stated.

The ultras appealed the people to launch a massive movement in the area.
