Dhenkanal, May 7: At least 125 persons of Similia Driver Sahi under ward no-19 here were affected by diarrhoea after having dinner at a marriage feast Wednesday night.
The affected persons experienced vomiting and loose motion after having the dinner. While many of them were discharged after primary treatment at the district headquarters hospital, 70 of them are still undergoing treatment.
Due to unavailability of adequate number of beds, the hospital authorities provided beds to only 28 of them. Many of the patients are yet to recover, doctors said. The hospital remained crowded throughout the day due to visit of such large number of patients and their attendants.
The incident occurred after the residents had dinner in the marriage of Jagat Behera in the locality.
