Massive fire breaks out at sanitary warehouse in Capital

Bhubaneswar: Properties worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes after a massive fire broke out at a sanitary pipe godown at Station Bazaar in Bhubaneswar late Tuesday night.

Reportedly, the whole godown was damaged in the fire mishap.

According to reports, smoke was spotted billowing out of the ground floor of the building at around 11 pm. The intensity of the fire increased rapidly due to presence of plastic items inside the store house. Soon, the fire spread and engulfed the whole godown.

Locals spotted the smoke and informed fire tender team after which eight fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames. As many as five persons, three women and two children who were present in the first floor of the building were rescued by the fire service personnel.

Though the reason behind the fire outbreak is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that an electrical short circuit might have led to the mishap.
