Bhubaneswar, March 13: Hosts Mukteswar Cricket Club (MCC) entered the semifinals of the NM Bhuyan Memorial cricket tournament after beating Scan Sporting by 25 runs in the second quarterfinal match at the BJB Ground here Sunday.
Opting to bat first MCC notched up a challenging total of 225 in the stipulated 40 overs with useful contributions from Sandeep Patnaik (38), Satyajeet Mishra (32), Soubghagya Mohanty (26) and Sumitosh Praharaj (24). Nishank Patnaik (3/24) was the most successful bowler for Scan Sporting.
In reply, Scan could manage only 200 in 35.3 overs getting all out in the process. SK Salman (44) fought a lone battle, but could not help his team cross the rope. Man of the match Aman Shastri (4/46) turned out to be the wrecker-in-chief for MCC.
Bikash shines
Bikash Rout (6/39) bowled a brilliant spell to put Dhenkanal in command over Sonepur on the first day of the two-day Group-C match in the Kalahandi Cup cricket tournament at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Sunday.
In reply to Dhenkanal’s first innings total of 226, Sonepur were in deep trouble with just 71 on the board for the loss of nine wickets at stumps.
