Bhubaneswar: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) will strengthen the skill development ecosystem in Odisha by providing industry-oriented training to 520 candidates, with a special focus on youth, particularly women, from its operational and aspirational districts. MCL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Bhubaneswar, to impart skill development training to the candidates under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The programme, with a total outlay of Rs 3.52 crore, will provide specialised training in two trades; Plastics Processing and Injection Moulding.
The candidates will be selected primarily from MCL’s operational districts and aspirational districts of Odisha, with a minimum of 30 per cent of the seats earmarked for women candidates. A key focus of the programme is to ensure that skill training translates into sustainable employment opportunities. CIPET will facilitate placement for a minimum of 70 per cent of the trained candidates in relevant sectors. The initiative is aimed at equipping local youth with industry-relevant skills and enhancing their employability while creating greater opportunities for women and communities in the districts where MCL operates.
