Bhubaneswar: The state government has hiked fees of medical, engineering and professional courses offered in private colleges. Fees have been hiked for courses like MBBS, BDS, engineering, MTech, BArch, MArch, MBA and MCA in private colleges.
Under Sub-Section 7 of Section 6 of the Orissa Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission & Fixation of Fee) Act, 2007, the Skill Development & Technical Education Department hiked the course fee for the academic session 2018-19.
As per the revised fee structure, the highest amount of `1.25 lakh has been hiked for the MBBS course in Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital in Rourkela where a candidate has to pay `5.50 lakh instead of `4.25 lakh now. The fee for BDS course has been hiked to `6.50 lakh from `5.50 lakh in Bhubaneswar. Clinical PG course fee has been fixed at `7.15 lakh and Dental fee course at `3 lakh. However, PG course fee has remained unchanged for this academic session.
Fees for BPharm and BTech courses have been hiked to `9,000 and `30,000 respectively in various private colleges. As CV Raman College of Engineering has received a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) “A” grade accreditation status, its fee for engineering courses has been increased to `1.14 lakh from `89,000.
The candidates have to pay `1.25 lakh for MTech course at the institute. Similarly, BTech course fee has been hiked to `1.10 lakh at Gandhi Engineering College (GEC), Bhubaneswar and `85,000 at Gandhi Institute for Technology (GIFT), Bhubaneswar. The MTech course fee has been increased to `1.10 lakh and `93,000 respectively in these two colleges.
However, the fee for the BTech and M.Tech courses has been reduced to `72,000 from 77,000 and `79,000 from 85,000 respectively in Krupajal Engineering School (KES). Source said that additional fee of `5,000 taken for NAAC status has been reduced for this academic session.
