Meet rejects report on Kalinganagar killings

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: A convention held here Tuesday on Kalinganagar Shahid Diwas at the Lower PMG strongly criticised the Kalinganagar mass killing inquiry report submitted by retired HC justice Pradyumna Kumar Mohanty for not indicting any government official for it.
The convention rejected the report terming it as well orchestrated and government sponsored. It demanded that all cases filed against the protestors should be withdrawn. The meet concluded that the movement against displacement and the battle to get tribal people’s birthrights on water, land and jungle would be fought in an organised manner henceforth.
Left parties, people’s organisations and human rights organisations jointly organised the convention which had hundreds of participants from different districts.
Meanwhile, the High Court Tuesday granted a week’s time to the state government to submit the judicial panel report on chopping of palms of some Kalinganagar firing victims.
