Jaleswar: A 22-year-old mentally challenged woman was allegedly raped at a pump house in Kendukhunta village under Raibania police station in Baleshwar district, police said.
The accused, identified as 32-year-old Bula Baskey, a married man and pump operator from the same village, was arrested and produced in court, they said Tuesday.
According to the complaint, the incident allegedly took place Saturday evening when Baskey took the woman to a pump house in the village and raped her.
The victim’s father lodged a written complaint at Raibania police station Monday after learning about the incident. Police registered a case (149/26) based on the complaint and launched an investigation. Following the investigation, police arrested Baskey and forwarded him to court.
