Choudwar, April 16: A migrant worker from Choudwar died under mysterious circumstances in Bangalore three weeks after he left home for work.
Bishnu Deuri and another youth of Badakusunupur had left home March 25, for work in Karnataka, with Bhaba Deuri, an agent of the same village.
However, Tuesday, Bishnu’s family members got the news of his death. When his wife Bichan contacted the labour contractor in Bangalore, he said Bishnu was suffering from kidney-related ailments and died while undergoing treatment.
Bichan, however, claimed her husband was not suffering from any disease when he left home. She alleged her husband was murdered, and lodged a complaint with Choudwar police.
“The agent assured my husband that he would arrange a job for him in Bhubaneswar, but took him to Bangalore,” she said. “They also cremated his body without even informing us,” she said.
“I have called the agent who took Bishnu to Bangalore. I will take further steps after questioning the agent,” assistant sub-inspector Abhimanyu Dakua said.
Bishnu was the sole breadwinner in his family and has a son Susant (15) and daughter Rima (13).
