Migrant worker’s body in ambulance for 4 days

Bahanaga: The body of a migrant worker is lying unattended to in an ambulance for four days. The vehicle carried it from Tamil Nadu to Bahanaga area in Balasore. The family members of the migrant worker alleged that he was murdered. The villagers staged a dharna, demanding action against the accused.

According to reports, Sridhar Sethi, a labour contractor of Simulia area, had taken Sanjay Kumar Das (35) to Tamil Nadu on the promise of work at a private company June 20. Sanjay used to speak to his family regularly, but from July 14, the family could not contact him. His cell phone was shown switched off.

Apprehensive, family members tried to contact the labour contractor, who told the former that Sanjay had died. But the contractor did not clarify what led to his death.

Family members said that when Tamil nadu police were contacted, Sanjay’s photograph and CCTV footage of the company were sent to the family. The family suspected foul play and filed a complaint at the police station against the contractor, who had also fights with Sanjay there.

The family members alleged that police did not take action in this regard.

An ambulance carried the body to the village three days ago. Three youths had come in the ambulance. The villagers detained the youth and ambulance, demanding arrest of the contractor.
