Minor accused escapes from police station in Dhenkanal

Kamakhyanagar: Dhenkanal police just got eggs on its face after a minor boy, taken into custody in connection with a burglary case, managed to escape from Kamakhyanagar police station late Wednesday night.

According to the police, he had been taken to custody for his complicity in a burglary case that had taken place in the house of Arjun Charan Khuntia, a resident of Kamakhyanagar Mundideula area April 2 night.

Acting on the complaint by the house owner, the police had registered a case and launched an investigation. Later, the minor was detained for his alleged complicity in the crime.

Wednesday night, taking advantage of the preoccupation of the guards, he managed to escape through the skylight of the toilet after removing its exhaust fan.

The same minor along with some of his accomplices had allegedly burgled the house of additional district and sessions judge and sub divisional judicial magistrate on the occasion of Dusshera immersion procession. They had made their entry through the skylight and then decamped with lakhs of rupees.

He has several cases pending against him at Kamakhyanagar, Kankadahad and Bhuban police stations.
