Bhubaneswar: A minor boy was killed after a car hit him inside Vani Vihar campus here in the capital city Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Kulamani Mahanta (12) of Patharabandha slum area.
Sources said Wednesday evening Kulamanai like any other day was cycling in the campus. At that time a man was practicing driving. All of a sudden the car veered towards Kulamani and before he could understand anything, the car hit him and his head came under its wheel.
While the driver fled the spot with the car immediately after the incident, on being informed PCR van reached the spot, rescued Kulamani and rushed him to Capital hospital. Later he was shifted to a private hospital as his condition deteriorated. While undergoing treatment there, he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
On registering an unnatural death case, police have launched an investigation.
