Digapahandi/Chikiti: A minor girl died when a portion of a wall of her house collapsed on her under the weight of a tree uprooted by cyclonic storm Titli
at K Nuagaon, 18 km from Digapahandi block headquarters in Ganjam district Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Naik, daughter of Krushna Naik.
Sources said, a tree got uprooted and fell on the house of Krushna in the wee hours of Thursday, leading to collapse of a portion of its wall and trapping the girl under it. Krushna and his wife Sukanti also sustained injuries in the mishap.
On being informed, K Nuagaon police reached the spot and sent the body for post mortem after registering an unnatural death case.
Sources said, under the impact of Titli, a huge banyan tree got uprooted near Padmanabhpur village disrupting traffic on Digapahandi-Chikiti road for some hours. Later, fire department personnel reached the spot and cleared the road.
