Khajuripada: Meanwhile, Khajuripada police Monday arrested two youths – Fetu Sethy (24) and Petu Sethy (24) of Godhapathar village of Angasipada grampanchayat under Khajuripada block – on charges of gangrape of a minor girl Saturday under this police limits in Kandhamal district.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family members, police have registered a case and produced the two in court. Later, they were sent to judicial custody after their bail pleas were rejected.
According to the complainant, the incident occurred while the victim had gone to a weekly market at Linepada to buy some daily essentials. While the girl was returning home, the two intercepted her and called her on the pretext of dropping her home. Unaware of their evil intentions, the girl went along with them.
However, the accused duo took her to a forest where they took turns on her. Later, they threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone. The accused fled, leaving her alone in the forest.
The girl managed to walk to the main road and was spotted by some passers-by who helped her to reach her house. Later, the girl narrated her ordeal to her father who lodged a written complaint against the two accused with Khajuripada police.
Based on his complaints, police made the arrest. Further probe into the incident is on, police said.
