Cuttack, April 8: Two minor girls who were engaged at a Pratap Nagari-based brick kiln and rescued from city railway station have accused the brick kiln owner and his accomplices of gangraping them for the last two months.
According to sources, social activist Bhimsen Sabat found the girls crying at the railway station and informed district Childline officials. Childline coordinator Narayan Sukla rushed to the spot and took the victims to Mahila police station.
As Mahila police refused to receive the complaint, Sukla filed a complaint with Sadar police who registered a case under Sections-374, 376, 323 of Prevention of Child from Sexual Offence Act.
Meanwhile, the victims were rehabilitated at Basundhara, a shelter home.
Sukla said the girls aged 11 and 14 were resident of Balasore and Bargarh. The brick kiln owner and his acquaintances have been raping them for last two months, he said adding the duo managed to run away from kiln Tuesday.
The girls have revealed that four more girls are under the same trauma there and urged the district administration to rescue them.
When Sukla tried to contact district labour officer Banamali Mohapatra to rescue other girls, he said he would look into the issue Thursday.
Sadar police inspector Debadutt Kar said the victims would be produced in judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) court to record their statements. The hapless girls will also undergo medical test at SCB Medical College and Hospital Thursday. Veracity of the allegations will be ascertained after medical report comes, he added.
